  1. THE PROPERT BEQUEST - A black pen and ink drawing on an 11 x 14 size vellum paper. It appears in the book, "The Scallion Stone," by Canon Basil A. Smith. Published by Whispers Press, 1980.

    The author of this collection of tales of horror is a member of the clergy. Very little is known about him. What was interesting to me, when I read the stories, is that "horror" in the mind of this clergyman comes from within us human beings, not from the world outside us.

    Vampires, werewolves, and chain-saw murderers may alarm you, and entertain you in the movies and in books, but please, please, don't ever go searching deep inside the dark recesses of your own mind. . .
